Description: The Convention Center as an abstract sculpture toys with the perception of mass and weight. It is massive yet weightless: there is solidity from far that disappears up close as the upper box cantilevers over the terrace café, and layer by layer, one is invited to deconstruct the mass into planes, and plans into a lattice of light and shadows on the interiors via the perforated pattern. In the same vein, the ICC Chair is a play on weight and perception. Depending on the angle of view, it can either be extremely heavy and grounded, or delicate and fragile. |
